Minarelli’s new corporate chapter, characterized by Fantic Motor’s acquisition of 100% of the Bologna-based company, shines thanks to the extremely positive results at the close of the 2021 financial year.
The year that saw the celebration of 70 years of history of Motori Minarelli closes in the best way also from the point of view of turnover growth, with solid balance sheets and a strong increase in sales and employment levels.
The figures show record revenue growth (+45% compared to 2020). At the close of the 2021 financial year, net revenue is expected to reach € 76 million, a very strong increase compared to € 52 million in 2020.
Sales figures for 125cc (+110% compared to 2020) and 50cc (+60% compared to 2020) motorbike engines are the driving force. Even excluding sales to Fantic and Yamaha, the supply of engines to other customers who have Motori Minarelli as a reference point to equip their top models is on the rise.
After more than 60 years of absence from the world of motorbikes, Minarelli began producing motorbikes again in 2021, this time for Fantic. In fact, there has been a gradual shift in the production of Fantic motorbikes from Veneto to Bologna. Minarelli produced its first 6,500 vehicles for national and international markets in 2021.
General Manager Vittorino Filippas explains how it was possible to achieve such results: “All this was possible thanks to the enthusiasm with which the Minarelli team accepted the challenge of change, to the investments made to upgrade the production lines and to a consistent staff training plan. We have added two more lines for vehicle production to the two lines exclusively dedicated to engine production, and during the implementation of the strategic plan, we will reach a total of eight lines. This has allowed us not only to maintain employment levels, in agreement with the trade unions and workers’ representatives but also to increase them through the consolidation of employment relationships and with the inclusion of graduates and senior figures able to bring in new skills”.
The strengthening of the Motor Research and Development structure has already begun, thanks to the recruitment of new talent and important collaborations with university institutions in the Motorvalley area. What’s more, as of the end of the production season, the consolidation of 30 workers currently on temporary contracts will begin, a fundamental condition for aiming to increase production capacity, thus further highlighting the excellence of the Bologna-based company.
“Minarelli is a company that perfectly complements the great Fantic project.” Commented Mariano Roman, CEO of Motori Minarelli and Fantic “It is completely independent in that it has long-standing collaborative relationships with several motorbike manufacturers and is increasingly focused on becoming a European motorsport hub capable of providing practical and effective solutions for its customers”.
Motori Minarelli is ready to face 2022 with new ambitious growth projects on all fronts: production of engines, vehicles and development of new projects. First and foremost, the revolutionary 300 2-stroke injection engine that was previewed as a concept at the Minarelli stand at Eicma 2021, destined to become a best seller soon available to all manufacturers.
